Lyle Myron McBride, 83, of Shepherd, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at his home.  Lyle was born on Tuesday, April 26, 1932 in Chippewa Township, Isabella County, Michigan the son of Emmet C. and Opal Rose (Emlinger).  On January 27, 1984, he married Sharon B. Grace at the Isabella County Courthouse.

     Lyle was a heavy equipment operator for many contracting companies, including Fisher Contracting and Hycon Construction in Houston, Texas, where he was also a supervisor.  Lyle was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for over fifty years.  He was a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church and a Life Member of the the Borley-Hanel VFW Post #3033 in Mt. Pleasant.  He enjoyed telling stories, loved fishing, going to auctions, playing with his backhoe, gardening and his two cats, Jose and Kali.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a corporal with an anti-aircraft company.

     Lyle is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Rick and Becky McBride, Kim and Mike Allison, Annette and John Green and Scott McBride; eight grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a brother, Gary and Julie McBride; and a sister, Lorraine Davis.  He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, three sisters and a granddaughter, Jamie.

     A memorial service celebrating Lyle’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. from the Maranatha Baptist Church, 1526 Airway Drive, with Pastor Gene Haymaker officiating.  A luncheon will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.  Interment of the cremated remains will take place in Chippewa Township Cemetery at a later date.  Friends and family will gather at the church from 12 noon until time of the service.  Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Maranatha Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.  Envelopes are available at the church and Rowley Funeral Home.
